What a week without signal actually feels like

Day one, you check your phone every ten minutes. By day four, you forget where you put it.

A trekker and a shopkeeper share tea at a wooden stall in a mountain village

We named ourselves Wifi to Wild for a reason. On most of our treks, the signal disappears somewhere on day two. People worry about this before they come. Almost nobody misses it once they are there.

Day one: the itch

You still have a bar or two in the base village, so you keep checking. Messages, emails, one last scroll before bed. It feels like something might happen without you.

Day two: the quiet

Somewhere in the forest, the bars go. For an hour your hand keeps going to your pocket out of habit. Then the trail gets steep, your breathing gets loud, and you stop thinking about it.

Day three onwards: the space

Without the phone, the days feel longer, in a good way. You notice the light change on the peaks. You talk to the people walking beside you. You fall asleep early and wake up before sunrise without an alarm.

Coming back

On the drive down, the phone buzzes back to life with everything you missed. Most of it can wait. That is the real souvenir: you come back knowing which things matter, and which only felt urgent.

If you're worried about being unreachable

Share your itinerary and our WhatsApp number with your family before you leave, and ask us how the team keeps in touch with base on your route. Then let it go.
